2024 High School Scholar Breakfast May 4th, 2024

Every year, we award academic scholarships to our High School Scholars around Central Virginia!

The mission of the 100 BMOCV is centered around Black male achievement thus the scholarships have historically been awarded to males. As a non-profit that is supported by generous donations, grants, and members support, the opportunity to begin awarding scholarships to females was made available last year. This year, funding has been acquired to award 5 scholarships to females and the process for applying is the same as it is for males. The scholarship application link can be found below. Please encourage students who meet the criteria to complete and submit their application by March 30.

High School Scholars Program

In Spring 2023, we awarded scholarships to 42 African American high school seniors from Charlottesville and counties across the region in recognition of their academic achievements and involvement in their communities. Recipients of the $1,000 scholarships earned an overall high school GPA of at least 3.0, participated in 100 Black Men community programs, and began college classes in Fall 2023. We look forward to seeing you at the event this May!

100 BMOCV Scholar Hours

The 100 Black Men Of Central Virginia is proud to announce a new tutoring initiative called “Scholar Hour”! This virtual study hall will be held for three hours every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to help our young Black men gain a sense of community and scholarship. During this time we will have highly qualified tutors and teachers who are ready to help 5th through 8th-grade black men with their homework and missed assignments. Individual tutoring is provided upon request and pending availability.
